The Manager, Development is a creative communicator, strong collaborator, and mission-driven institutional fundraiser that will help ensure the Council has the financial resources needed to achieve its mission. Reporting to the Director, Development, this role will lead the Council’s event sponsorship, dive deep into prospect research, tell the Council’s story through grant reports and other written materials, be the go-to for all things grant administration, and support the Director, Development in donor stewardship
Sponsorship
- Lead event sponsorship fundraising from A to Z to ensure we meet our revenue targets. This includes prospecting, developing sponsorship collateral, soliciting gifts, fulfilling sponsor benefits, creating post-event reports, and coordinating with event leads across the Council.
- Lead meetings with sponsorship prospects, including facilitating conversations about sponsor needs and pitching available Council opportunities.
- Assist the Director, Development in implementing and measuring success of new sponsored content programs focused on opportunities outside of Council events.
Prospect Research and Stewardship
- Identify potential funders and assess fit based on connections to the Council’s mission.
- Develop comprehensive funder profiles for leadership and provide scheduling support.
- Join funder calls to take notes and record next steps, as requested.
- Assist with donor stewardship and giving programs, including piloting new and improved ways to engage prospective and current funders.
- Stay current on philanthropic sector news, trending topics, and funder activities to help connect grant-makers with the Council’s work.
Content Development and Grants Management
- Manage grant reporting, including writing content with input from staff across the Council and ensure funder deadlines for grant reports are met.
- Develop concept notes about the Council’s priority initiatives, with input from content leads across the organization.
- Draft fundraising communications for senior team members.
Administration
- Own all administration related to grants and sponsorships, including grants calendar, payment processing, gift acknowledgement, Salesforce data entry, and web updates.
- Create Salesforce reports and dashboards to inform staff of fundraising progress.
- Support continual improvement of development policies and procedures for clarity, efficiency, and transparency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or comparable experience
- Experience making successful one-on-one fundraising solicitations to institutional donors
- Database management experience, Salesforce preferred
